What Happened to Black Friday?
Out before sunrise with a Starbucks holiday drink in hand, blasting 2000s pop on the speakers, anticipating walking outside in 30º weather to run into a very crowded mall after circling the parking lot, praying to find an empty spot. Remember the feeling?
It was here one year and gone the next. Everyone knows it, yet nothing has changed. Where is the energy???
I'm hopeful that we're on the come-up, and that the holiday season is going to be reminiscent of younger years from here on out.
After arriving at our biggest mall with all of the best stores at NINE AM, we stared at a parking lot half full… and no, we didn’t miss the first rush of people.
It was a typical mall day. Once we left the mall (around 2 pm), the crowds began.
A lot of the sales are also the same as advertised during any other week of the year. Also, people are inclined to stay in the comfort of their own homes with the convenience of online shopping. Speaking of which, should Cyber Monday be a national holiday? Probably! Jokes aside, brands like @dairyboy are sticking to the Black Friday roots and keeping the sales for just the day. No two-week-long Black Friday specials. Black Friday is the kick-off to the holiday season. Where is the spirit?!
Here are some sales that I’m excited about:
40% off site-wide @ Dairy Boy
50% off the entire purchase @ LOFT & J. Crew
40% off everything @ NAKD
40% off everything @ French Connection
50% off everything @ GAP
Up to 70% off @ White Fox
Happy Shopping!
